I. To teach effectively and efficiently by connecting topics across subject areas

SY 2018-2019
I. To implement a balanced literacy program.
- Provided whole language learning opportunities through interactive read-alouds, shared reading, interactive writing, and shared writing
- Students regularly read texts at a range of levels, guided by their interests and connections to areas of study
- Implemented a backwards approach to unit planning
- Attended professional development on Understanding by Design
- Utilized Google Sheets and Classroom to track student progress
- Conferenced with students on a monthly basis to help set goals for learning
SY 2019-2020
I. To refine teaching practices that would cater to student needs.
- Reflected on the needs of a diverse setting striving to develop students into global citizens
- Provided opportunities for students to promote cross-cultural understanding through open discussions
- Began to look into various online programs because I had a full time position
- Courses at the University of the People started in April 2019
SY 2020-2021
I. To increase awareness of diversity and global competence through class conversations and purposeful activities.
- Built on students’ global competencies by accepting and celebrating diversity in the classroom through celebrations and active reflection
- Encouraged students to participate during units of inquiry
- Modeled and demonstrated flexibility and adaptability when learning and motivation was low
- Took risks to change my practices and admitted when instruction could be done better
SY 2021-2022 (WIP)
I. To gain knowledge about utilizing WIDA assessment and standards to monitor multilingual learners' progress and customize individualized plans for students
- Attend professional develop with the WIDA Virtual Institute as well as the WIDA Deep Dive webinars
- Meet with class teachers once a month to collaborate, communicate about student progress, and discuss next steps
